in Northern California and vicinity, but is not solely limited to this area. |

The Foundation encourages international scholarship
programs particularly with the United States and Japan. |

The Foundation's grantees must be nonprofit
organizations with 501(c)3 status. Applications from individuals will not be considered. |

Priority is given to programs that are innovative
and long term in orientation. Programs should include the appropriate follow-up activities
needed in order to maximize their impact. |

Priority is placed on programs that include
participants of both genders and of different ethnic backgrounds. |

Programs centered on annual or ongoing events
and activities are given lower priority. |
|
|
 |
Tourist-oriented programs are excluded from
consideration. |
